U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Columbus, OH – Who’s Who In Black Columbus is proud to announce that U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in its upcoming 2025 edition. This honor recognizes Beatty’s exceptional legacy of leadership, public service, and lifelong advocacy for civil rights and equity.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by Who’s Who In Black Columbus with this prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, alongside so many brilliant Black changemakers in our community,” said Congresswoman Beatty. “I’m grateful for the recognition of my commitment and passion for the well-being of the people of Columbus — particularly Black communities who continue to confront and overcome systemic barriers in the pursuit of justice and opportunity. In Congress, I’ve been proud to stand on the front lines of that ongoing fight: for equity, for dignity, and for a future where we all thrive.”

“This award isn’t just about my journey,” Beatty continued. “It reflects a centuries-long fight for justice. A fight that continues, even in 2025. Thank you to Who’s Who for this distinguished honor and for your continued celebration of Black excellence in Columbus.”

As the first African American woman to represent Ohio’s 3rd Congressional District and a former Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Beatty has been a powerful voice for justice and opportunity. She is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, The National Urban League and The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, which are national organizations dedicated to service, social impact and equality for each person in our country.

“Congresswoman Beatty’s impact on Columbus and the nation is profound and lasting,” said Dr. Carter D. Womack, COO of Who’s Who In Black. “Her leadership has opened doors and inspired generations.”

The 2025 edition, set to be released on November 19, 2025, will spotlight a dynamic group of Black leaders and changemakers who are shaping the future of Columbus across business, education, healthcare, and civic life. This milestone publication will also feature many of the region’s leading corporations, non-profits, government agencies, and small businesses—highlighting their goods and services, career opportunities, and showcasing them as exceptional places to work, grow, thrive, and succeed in the Greater Columbus Metropolitan Area. Now, in its 19th edition, Who’s Who In Black Columbus is part of the nationally recognized Who’s Who In Black series—a platform that celebrates Black excellence and serves as a lasting tribute to leadership, achievement, and inspiration in communities across America.
